JOINING THE FRATERNAL ORDER OF EAGLES

 WHO CAN JOIN?
  • Membership is open to any person 18 years of age,  of good moral character, that  believes in the existence of a supreme being, and is not a member of the Communist Party nor any organization which advocates the overthrow of the United States government.  

IS THERE AN  AUXILIARY  FOR THE LADIES?
  • Yes, we have a Ladies Auxiliary at the local, state and national levels that was formed for the purpose of aiding in our charitable, humanitarian, patriotic, and other  purposes. All of the activities  of the Auxiliary are designed to promote the objectives of the  Fraternal Order of Eagles. Our local Auxiliary is very active and has about the same number of members as the Aerie.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN?
  • You should join because you believe in what we do and the issues and topics we focus our efforts around.  We only ask that you dedicate  enough time to participate and make a difference in the organization and your community  and have fun doing it.  

WHAT IS YOUR FOCUS?
  • The statement "People Helping People" guides  the charitable actions of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. It has led the Eagles around the nation to donate more than $10 million annually.  As part of our charitable philosophy, the Eagles give back  100 percent  of the contributions received in the form of grants to local organizations. These organizations must promise that the funds will only be used  for equipment, training and research and that no funds will go to administrative costs or payroll expenses.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING?
  • There are several benefits to  becoming a member of our organization. Our members are close friends and an  Eagle family and we have a great time when we get together. Of course we also  have a common interest, and we hope to further our cause.  All Aerie and Auxiliary members children are  now covered for medical and for a college education if the member is killed  while at work. This previously was only available to Policemen, Firemen, EMT's, etc.  This is really a cheap insurance policy for your children's education and medical in  the event you are in a fatal accident while on the job.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?
  • You are  expected  to help and/or donate as little or as much as you can.  We only ask that you try to participate and have fun doing it. We don't keep records of who or how much anyone contributes.  But, like many of us - the fun is in the doing - while building new friendships and making a difference in your community.

HOW DO I JOIN?
  • ​You must be sponsored by two current members of a Fraternal Order of Eagles.  Contact an Eagle member and have them sign you up or stop by the Aerie and talk to a member. You will need complete and submit a membership application along with a  small   application fee.

​WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
  • You will then be contacted by a member of our Membership Committee and scheduled to come to the Aerie for a short orientation about the organization and our specific chapter. After the orientation you will be contacted to schedule your Initiation.  The initiation ceremony is a ritual whereby you affirm your  willingness to take upon your conscience a solemn vow, which, while pledging you to devote your best efforts to upholding the teachings of this Order, will in no way conflict with any civic or religious duty.
